Our special education department is wrapping up it’s first semester with a resource room for 14 students grades 1-5 who are in need of higher levels of instructional support. This was class was re-established this past January to address the learning needs of our learners who have different learning styles from their peers. We have some supplies (paper, pencils, markers, crayons) to start us off, but are in need of iPads, computers, and a CD player to address targeted skills in reading and mathematics. We are looking to close the achievement gap for all of our students and provide them resources that are available in the general education class.  We are currently using iPads borrowed from other classes for two morning blocks and would like to return these resources to the classes they belong to. The apps we run specifically on iPads are Penguin Math, Core 5 Lexia (for decoding practice), KidBix 3000, IXL, and Cool Math. My students also enjoy the learning videos on Brain Pop and Brain Pop junior, and I appreciate using these as rewards or short breaks after intense lessons. The iPads are constantly in rotation in the classroom and would be put to great use!
